Posing DONT'S

What NOT to do in a back pose
                                                                                     Terry Stokes

Learning to properly pose your back is the most difficult posing skill to master. The goal of the back pose is to accentuate your v-taper. The only way to create this look is to properly flare your back/lats. Here is one common mistake I see among beginners and experienced competitors. Practice posing in front of mirror so that you can easily pick up and correct posing mistakes.

When executing the back pose make sure you don’t pull your arms too far back and over arch your back. Actually stand in front of a mirror and practice this so that you know what it feels like. The front pose and the back pose are the same but competitors have a tendency to pull their arms back when executing a back pose.

In this picture, the competitor's arms are at her side and. The lats are fully flexed which creates a nice v-taper
